VOLUNTEER TIMINGS & JOB DESCRIPTIONS

To make the Waterbeach Running Festival a success need around 40 volunteers.  There are lots of different jobs to do at different times of the day. Some are just 1 hour, some are around 3 hours.  Some finish before the 5km and 10km start if you are racing too!  The jobs are described below, along with the start and approximate finish times.  The finish times may be earlier if the runners finish earlier.  

APPROX. TIMES       JOB                               DESCRIPTION

08:30 – 11:30             Race registration*          Register runners by ticking them off on a list and giving them their race number; in                                                                              the sports hall 

08:30 – 11:30             On the day entry            People can enter on the day.  This job entails taking payment for on the day entries,                                                                            checking entry form completed correctly and allocating and issuing a race number; in                                                                          the sports hall

10:15 – 13:00             Finish medals & water*  Handing out medals and bottles of water to competitors as they finish.  

Slots from

10:15 - 12:30             Run course                   Signaling on the course to ensure runners go the right way & cheering them on!

11:30 – 12:30            Water station*               Pouring water into cups and handing out to runners on the 2nd lap of the 10km. Near                                                                          the finish/ Festival Village

Slots from

09:00 – 13:00            Cake stall*                    Selling cakes in the festival village.  May involve setting up/ tidying away.

Slots from

09:00 – 13:30            Bouncy castle               Taking money and supervising bouncy castle in the Festival Village

*Can be done by responsible under 18 year olds.  Must be at least 10 years old and we rely upon the parents’ judgment whether their child would be capable of doing this job. There would be at least 1 adult on this job to supervise minors.
